October 9th

Hey Union Church Family! HAPPY FRIDAY!

Hope you’ve all been able to stay hopeful, joyful and positive this week despite all the reasons to the contrary. If you are looking for examples this week of God’s people “punching holes in the darkness”, I am delighted to share this one with you.

Things to be aware of the rest of this month—

One, we are returning back to sanctuary worship this coming Sunday, October 11 (in-person or online).

Two, in lieu of Trunk or Treat this year, the DiscipleSHIP team will be hosting a Harvest Celebration on the night of October 23rd for the community to enjoy. Invite your friends to come and celebrate with dinner and fall themed activities; of course there will be CANDY! Registration is mandatory and can be done on this webpage! Just fill out the quick form and click “Register Now”. You will then get an email confirmation and you are all set. Any questions, reach out to Jessica The or Ashley Reeves in the church office.

Finally, I’ve got more good news to share with you from the book of Revelation this Sunday! This time from Revelation 7:1-4; 9-17. So, let us gather together. Let us be grateful. And let us BE THE CHURCH!!!

PS. Would you please pray for the Bertocchis— Bob, Marinann and Sia. They all depart today for South Korea to complete the adoption of their new son, Jaemin, and to finalize plans to bring him home! PTL!

Harvest Celebration

We know it's time for Trunk or Treat, but this year the DiscipleSHIP team would like to test your carving skills at our first Harvest Celebration happening October 23rd from 5:30-8pm. Families are invited to enjoy fall activities such as pumpkin carving, costume parade, prizes and of course candy! Come ready to enjoy a night of fellowship outside in the crisp, fall air! All supplies and dinner provided. Registration is open through October 18th and is free to participate. Any questions or if you'd like to support this event through donations, please contact Jessica The at 626.665.5200

A Season of Prayer for our Community and Neighbors

The people of God, over the great span of God’s saving work from Old Testament times up to the present day, have gathered to observe special occasions for focused prayer. Sometimes the seasons of prayer are prescribed by scripture. More often, the people of God respond to the immediate circumstances of time and place. Moved by the Spirit, and the holy, righteous and compassionate heart of Jesus, the people of God act with one voice and spirit to cast their cares upon the God who is gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. To this end, you are invited to join in a Season of Prayer for our Community – local, statewide, national, and international. Wednesdays, 6:00 – 6:45 p.m. in the Sanctuary and Online from September 23rd – October 28th.

Fall Growth Group: The Kingdom of God

What does Jesus mean by the Kingdom of God? If “the good news (or Gospel) of the Kingdom” is in fact the most succinct way to sum up Jesus’ message, we best take the time to understand as well as possible what the Kingdom of God is all about. Over the course of nine weeks, we will take a look at a few different passages that will help fill in our understanding of the Kingdom of God. Join us Wednesday nights from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary and Online from September 23 – November 18.
