4. LIVING YOUR LIFE WITH JESUS
Thank You, we have received your form.
  • LIVING YOUR LIFE WITH JESUS

How do we get to know God? The same way we get to know anybody else. First, talk to them. Second, listen to them. And third, go places and do things together. Those are the things we need to do. But how do I know God is there?

There are many things we can’t see. We can’t see electricity or the wind. But we can see what it affects. So even though we cannot see God or hear His voice with our human ears we can still see the working of His power; and by learning how to talk and listen to Him we can come to know Him. It’s in knowing Him that we learn to trust Him.

  • 1. How important is faith? (Hebrews 11:6, Hebrews 10:38)

  • 2. What is faith? (Mark 4:35-41)

  • The best definition of faith is TRUST. It is depending upon God!

There was a tightrope walker who was crossing Niagara Falls. After he had held the crowds spellbound with his daring, he asked,”How many of you believe I could cross the tightrope again, this time pushing a wheelbarrow with someone riding in it?” The crowds applauded. They were sure he could do it. But then he said, “Who will volunteer to ride the wheelbarrow?” Everyone was silent! That’s the difference between belief and faith. Everyone believed that he could go across the falls pushing someone in a wheelbarrow... they just didn’t have the faith to trust him to get into the wheelbarrow them self. And it’s the same way with God! It’s one thing to believe that He exists. It’s another to trust Him with your whole life.

  • 3. How do we learn to trust someone? (2 Timothy 1:12)

  • Note: If you received a lot of money for your birthday and a stranger on the street walked over to you and asked you for it, would you give it to him? No! Why? Because you don’t even know him. But if your Dad asked you for the money because he was going to put it in the bank for you, would you give it to him? Yes. Why? Because you know and trust your father. It’s the same way with Jesus. In order for us to trust Him, we need to get to know Him better.

  • 4. How do we get to know God?

  • a. Listening to—(Romans 10:17, John 20:30, 31)

  • b. Talking to – (Philippians 4:6, Luke 11:9-13)

  • c. Working with – (Matthew 11:28, 29)

  • 5. Is faith something we receive from God? (Romans 12:3, Hebrews 12:2)

  • Note: Faith is a gift from God. It becomes more real as we spend time with God by talking to Him, listening to Him and doing things with Him.

  • 6. Do we need faith in order for God to work in our lives? (Matthew 9:22, 28, 29)

  • Note: Faith is what is needed for Gods’ power to work in your life.

  • 7. What if you don’t have the faith needed for God to be able to work in your life? (Mark 9:20-27)

  • Note: If we don’t have the faith we need for God to work in our life, all we have to do is ask Him for the faith needed. He will give it to us if we only ask Him.

  • Conclusion: To have faith in Jesus is to trust Him. We learn to trust God by getting to know Him better. The best way to get to know God is to read the Bible, pray to Him and let Him use us. We need faith in order for God to work in our life and since faith comes from God, all we have to do is to ask Him for this faith.

    Dear God,
Thank you for wanting me to be your friend. Help me to learn how to get to know you better. Help me to hear you talk to me and help me to know how to talk to You about everything that is happening in my life. And give me the faith I need when I don’t have it so that You can work in my life.

    Your friend,
