What happens when we die? Where do we go? Some people say we go straight to heaven. That sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? Some people say we go to hell. That doesn’t sound like fun. Others say we “sleep” until Jesus comes back for us. Again, let’s turn to the Word of God. The Bible has all the answers for us.

Note: “Resurrection” means “to be brought back to life” or “to be raised from the dead”. Jesus is saying that we sleep in our graves until He returns for us.

Note: When God removes his “breath” or “life” from us, we go to sleep until He returns for us.

Note: The word “immortal “means that you can never die.

Note: We are mortal because we can die. But when Jesus comes, He is going to give us the gift of ‘immortality’. This means that we will never be able to die again. We will live forever and ever!

Note: You don’t know anything while you are asleep. It’s the same thing when you die, you don’t remember anything at that time either.

Conclusion: One day a boy went to Disney World with his family and had a great time. He was so tired at the end of the day that he fell fast asleep in the car on the way home. When his family arrived home, his dad picked him up and carried him into his bed. The next morning the boy woke up and said, “Hey, how did I get in my bed?” He didn’t remember anything!

That’s what it’s like when you die. You fall asleep and don’t remember anything until Jesus comes again for you. You will be together again with your family and best of all, Jesus will be with you and you will live forever with Him.

Dear Jesus,
Thank you for giving me the gift of eternal life. I want to live in heaven with you and my parents. Please give me a heart to know you and to love you.
