1. THE HOWS AND WHYS OF THE BIBLE
Thank You, we have received your form.
  • One day a boy in the Middle East was looking after some goats. He began to throw stones against the side of a cliff to amuse himself. One stone went into a cave where he heard the sound of pottery breaking. His cousins went inside to investigate and found his stone had broken a large jar containing a leather scroll with ancient writing on it. In nearby caves, they found more than 400 scrolls in all. Do you know what these scrolls were? They were called the “Dead Sea Scrolls” and are the oldest writings of the Bible ever found.

The Bible is a very special book! It has been protected by God for centuries and some of the most amazing prophecies are written in it. So far, every prediction ever made has come true!

Many people read the Bible for different reasons. Some read the Bible because they want to know what will happen in the future. Some read it because they want advice on how to live a good life.

  • 1. What is the main reason why we should read the Bible? (John 15:15; Jeremiah 9:23, 24; John 17:3)

  • Note: The purpose of all Scripture is to get to know God. He loves you and wants to be your special friend in life. He wants you to know Him. God has promised that He will help you to understand His word if you pray and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you.

  • Have you ever wanted something really badly? Maybe it was a special toy for Christmas or for your birthday. And when you received it, what happened? Did it continue to make you happy? No, you decided something else would make you happier.

Guess what? It’s the same with adults. They want a new house or a new car. They want to get a new job or get married and once that happens... they’re still not happy.

It’s like we’re all born with a hole in our heart that only God can fill. Even though we try to fill this hole with all these things, nothing ever really makes us happy. God says that the only way to real happiness is through Him. He wants to give us joy and peace in our lives.

  • 2. What does Jesus want to give us? (John 14:27)

  • 3. What does Jesus want us to do? (Phil 4:6, 7)

  • Note: God does not want us to constantly worry about things. Instead He wants us to tell him our troubles and worries so that He can help us. He loves to hear what is on our hearts.

  • 4. Why is Jesus so important? (John 3:16-18; 6:40; 14:6, 7)

  • Note: The only way to Heaven and the only way to real joy and peace and happiness in life is through Jesus. He wants you to know Him much better than you do now because He wants you to know how much He loves you and wants to be your special friend.

  • Dear God,

Please help me to learn more about You. I want you to be my special friend. I want to be able to share my special thoughts with you. Help me to learn how much You love me.

    Your friend______________
