    Acts 3:11-4:4

  • I. Jesus is God the Son (3:12–16)
       A. Peter set the record straight (vv. 12–15)
          1. “Why do you marvel?” (v. 12)


    Philippians 3:19

    “Many [live] [as] enemies of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and glory in their shame, [with] minds [set] on earthly things.”

     

    I. Jesus is God the Son (3:12–16)

          1. “Why do you marvel?” (v. 12)
         2. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (v. 13a)
         3. Peter shows their guilt (v. 14)

          1. His healing was proof that Jesus was alive
         2. The crowd was just as guilty!
         3. This was a miracle!


    II. Jesus is the Savior (3:17–4:4)
        A. The people’s ignorance (v. 17–18)
            1. Peter did not leave them without hope
           2. Rebellious sinners
           3. Jesus’ word on it

     

    Luke 23:34

    “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

        B. The mysteries of God
            1. God had a plan from all eternity (vv. 19–26)
           2. Where God doesn’t rule, He overrules!
           3. Peter was burdened for his people!

    • What he told them to do... repent!

    II. Jesus is the Savior (3:17–4:4)
        C. Exercising saving faith in Jesus Christ (4:1-4)
            1. Peter called for national repentance
           2. The nation did not repent!
           3. There was no excuse!


    Luke 24:25–27

    “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to suffered these things to enter into His glory?”  Beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.”

    1. God is long-suffering with lost sinners.

     

    2. True witness tells of sin & guilt and the “good news” of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.

     

    3. The way to reach the masses is by helping individual sinners.

     

    4. The best defense of the Christian faith is a changed life.

     

    5. Whenever God blesses, Satan shows up to oppose.


    6. God has promised to bless and use His Word!


    7. The name of Jesus Christ still has power!
