  • “Keeping A Straight Path With God”

    By Pastor Mike

“My foot has held fast to His steps; I have kept His way and not turned aside.” (Job 23:11)

Pastor Chuck Smith, in a sermon concerning our walk with God said, “If your flight plan from Los Angeles to Hawaii is off only two degrees, when you fly off for Hawaii, you will fly right by the island and never see it!”  Pastor Chuck’s point was the longer our life’s steps take us astray from God, the greater the difficulty in getting back to God.

Job spoke of his desire to keep his steps on track with God’s path for his life. Job kept his steps in life sure, not turning to the left or the right. Job went on to say, “I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.” (Job 23:12)  Job considered God’s commandments and words more important and more desirable than his daily food!

Our lives have daily needs for physical health. But more importantly, we have spiritual needs that left neglected, will greatly affect even our physical well-being. As Jesus said in His Sermon on the Mount... “I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?” (Matthew 6:25)

Yes it is! So, let us follow Job’s example and keep our steps in check, and pursue God! Like Job you will be able to say...“For I know that my Redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on the earth; and after my skin is destroyed, this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God.” (Job 19:25-26)

    Godspeed!
