  • “Are You On the Menu?”

    By Pastor Mike

“Your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion,

seeking whom he may devour.” (2 Peter 5:8)

The devil never takes a day off. He is like a hungry lion, always on the prowl for someone to eat. Like a lion, the devil seeks to ambush his prey. We cannot see him, but there are times we know we are vulnerable. Times of weakness and momentary lapses of faith or stress in our lives makes us targets of the devil. It is at times like these that he pounces. He will strike in our weakness, put us to flight, hoping to run us down and make us his tasty treat!

The Apostle Peter admonishes us against such attacks...

“Be sober, be vigilant; your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.” (1 Peter 5:8)

The good news is, if we are sober and under self-control, if we are vigilant and watchful, we can resist him! This resistance is developed by being steadfast or firm and solid in the faith. Praise the Lord! Our ability to resist is in the Lord’s strength and not ours. There will be times of suffering, believers experience suffering throughout the world. But as the apostle went on to say...

“The God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Peter 5:10-11)

The God of all grace has called us to His eternal glory! That means, in our persecutions by the devil, Jesus will perfect, establish, strengthen and settle you! So, we can have His ever-abiding peace in every situation... Hallelujah! What a Savior!

    God speed!
