John 10:11

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.”

John 10:27-29

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.”

I. The Way of Affirmation (14:25-26)

A. Jesus’ encouraging words (v. 25)

B.  The Helper would confirm Jesus’ words (v. 26)

1. The Holy Spirit’s chief expression is Jesus

John 14:26 KJV

“But the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

Romans 8:9

“But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.”

“I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”

“I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.”

II.  The Way to Peace (14:27)

A. The peace of God

1. God’s peace is other worldly
2. The world is filled with uncertainty
3. The soul that trusts in God has rest!

Matthew 16:16-18

“Simon Peter answered and said, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus answered and said unto him, “Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

Romans 8:35-39

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

III. The Way of Obedience (14:28-31)

A. Jesus modeled this way

1. Rejoicing at His leaving?
2. He was going back to the Father
3. He would send the Comforter

Hebrews 13:5-6

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” So that we may boldly say, ‘The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”

Matthew 28:20b

“And, lo, I am with you always, unto the end of the world.”
