  • “The Gospel of Peace”

    “Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace.” (Ephesians 6:14-15)

     

    As Americans, we have been blessed to live in a country that has looked to the welfare of every citizen in its borders. Since the day of our declaration of independence to the founding of our Constitution, our nation has been under the divine influence of God. It was revealed in the opening of our Declaration of Independence...

     

    “When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

    We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

     

    This declaration of independence was confirmed in the Constitution when our founding fathers wrote the preamble and stated the grounds by which we would live...

     

    “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

     

    For Two Hundred and Forty-Two years, we have lived under the protection of these documents. We have not always administrated them properly, but for the most part, we have righted the wrongs of our past. I believe we owe that to the fact that we have taken our cues from the Word of God. As the Bible spoke to the hearts of our founding fathers, we saw an over-arching covering of God’s grace given to our nation. We owe our freedom to the Goodness of God that was derived from the pages of His Word!

     

    So, as we prepare to celebrate the 242nd anniversary of our independence from the tyranny of the king of England, let us give pause to thank our Creator, “the King of kings and Lord of lords,” for His greatness, and the life that comes from Him—“To God be the glory, great things He has done!”
