  • Who are We? People of Witness

    September 26, 2021

    • As members of this congregation, will you faithfully participate in its ministries by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness?

    • Witness
      • MARTUREO – To give (not to keep back) testimony, to utter honorable testimony, to give a good report.

    • “Jesus knew the Pharisees had heard that he was baptizing and making more disciples than John (though Jesus himself didn’t baptize them-his disciples did). So, he left Judea and returned to Galilee.  He had to go through Samaria on the way.  Eventually he came to the Samaritan village of Sychar, near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.  Jacob’s well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime.  Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, ‘Please give me a drink.’ He was alone at the time because his disciples had gone into the village to buy some food.” – John 4:1-8.

    • Jesus is in motion.
    • Jesus takes great risk.
    • Jesus builds relationship.
    • Jesus’ goal is to go where people are, not to wait for people to come to where he is.

    • “Therefore, stay where you are, in the comfort of your church buildings and in your circle of Christian friends, and wait for people to come to you, and then make them disciples…”
    • “Therefore, GO and make disciples of all nations…” Matthew 28:19
