    Scripture: Galatians 5:22-23

    The Fruits of the Holy Spirit are: “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” 

    –Galatians 5:22-23

     

    • “Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” – Mark Twain
    • kindness – to be gracious to others
    • Kindness is treating others the way God has treated you.
    • “Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.” – Ephesians 4:32

     

    1. How Kindness is Seen in Our Lord

     

    • “One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him.” – Mark 10:13

     

    • “When Jesus saw what was happening, he was angry with his disciples. He said to them, ‘Let the children come to me.  Don’t stop them!  For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children.” – Mark 10:14

     

    • “Praise the Lord, all you nations. Praise him, all you people of the earth.  For he loves us with unfailing love; the Lord’s faithfulness endures forever.  Praise the Lord!” – Psalm 117:1-2

     

    • “Love your enemies! Do good to them.  Lend to them without expecting to be repaid.  Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked.” – Luke 6:35

     

    • Kindness costs but it can never be bought.

     

    • “But – When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.” – Titus 3:4-5

     

    • “Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you?  Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?” – Romans 2:4

     

    • “So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.” –Ephesians 2:7

     

    1. How Kindness is to be Shown in Our Life

    • Warmth, friendliness, and a gentle touch are always stronger than force and fury.

     

    • “You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

     

    • “I shall pass through this world but once. Any good that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now and not defer it.  For I shall not pass this way again.” –Stephen Grellett

     

    1. How Kindness is to be Shared with Our Lips

     

    • “Then he took the children in his arms and placed his hands on their heads and blessed them.” – Mark 10:16

     

    • One kind word can warm three winter months.

     

    • “Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.” – Galatians 6:1

     

    1. How Kindness is to be Sown by Our Love

     

    • “Love is patient and kind.” – 1st Corinthians 13:4

     

    • God is looking for people who are willing to participate in acts of love and kindness to those outside of their present circle. He is looking for people who believe that a humble demonstration of love plants a seed of eternity in the hearts of others that will blossom into faith in Christ.

     

    • “Large crowds followed Jesus as he came down the mountainside. Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him.  ‘Lord,’ the man said, ‘if you are willing you can heal me and make me clean.’” – Matthew 8:1-2

     

    • “Jesus reached out and touched him. ‘I am willing,’ he said. ‘Be healed!’  And instantly the leprosy disappeared.” – Matthew 8:3
