Greetings Union Church Family!
Life in this fallen world can get pretty wearisome, wouldn’t you agree? So when you are feeling weary and feeling week, run to the Psalms; there’s grace to be found there. Consider one of my favorites, Psalm 121:
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
This psalm confronts you with two truths that we must always remember. First, we are not in this battle alone. We have a Keeper, and our safety is his commitment. Second, the One who is our Keeper never, ever takes a break. His keeping care is 24/7 forever and ever. The inexhaustible Keeper is your help and strength; when weary run to him.
And finally, when you are weary run to join the Keeper’s family in worship. Yep, its official. Outdoor worship in the parking lot is ON for this Sunday, June 27th at 11:00am. And, with the temps on the rise, please do bring sunscreen, water and shade (if that is your preference) with you. Also, bring a few extra bucks as the Taquitos food truck will be rolling up the hill to serve up some lunch. I’ll be finishing out our series on how to love with an assortment of texts from the gospel of John. The title of the sermon is “Costly” and come prepared to be enthralled by our Savior’s costly, extravagant love. Communion to follow. Cant wait!
See ya in Church!
