November 29th - Order of Worship

10 A.M. Contemporary Sunday Service

November 26, 2020

Dear Union Church Family,

Happy Thanksgiving! There is a old song that our forbearers used to sing in church--- “Count your many blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done.” I hope and trust that on this blessed day you will find time to reflect and to count the many blessings the Lord has bestowed upon you. As you do I invite you to ponder some of my favorite “Thanksgiving Quotes”:

“Gratitude is the inward feeling of kindness received. Thankfulness is the natural impulse to express that feeling. Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse.” — Henry Van Dyke

“To speak gratitude is courteous and pleasant, to enact gratitude is generous and noble, but to live gratitude is to touch Heaven.” — Johanne Gaertner

“Thanks are the highest form of thought, and gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.” — GK. Chesterton

And then my favorite,

“The turkey. The sweet potatoes. The stuffing. The pumpkin pie. Is there anything else we all can agree so vehemently about? I don’t think so.” — Nora Ephron

I say “Amen!” Enjoy the day, be thankful, and I’ll see ya in church this Sunday!

Love,
Billy

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord for he is good, his mercy endures forever.” — Psalm 107:1

Guatemala Christmas Baskets

Instead of a large celebration event, baskets will be delivered to impoverished villages surrounding San Cristobal. Each basket will include $50 worth of basic necessities purchased locally in San Cristobal, and we will also provide other items that people are in great need of right now, like hand sanitizer and masks. Donations must be received by December 6th and can be mailed to Union or dropped in the offering (checks must indicate “Guatemala Baskets” on the memo line).

Angel Tree and Bradley Center Donation Sign Ups

Click here to access the google document for sign ups. Gifts can be dropped off at the church on December 6th or 13th from 11:15 - noon or at Amanda or Sinikka’s homes before December 13th.

Knitters and Crocheters Outreach

Looking for a mission project? Come and learn how to knit or crochet baby afghans. We just gave 85 baby afghans to Magee Women’s Hospital picked up by Medspeed and delivered to Magee and clinics throughout Alleghany County. They are given to the less fortunate newborns. We thank all of you who continue to give yarn and monetary donations, they are much appreciated. Call Ellen at (724)601-6268 or Loraine at (412) 452-0297.

2021 Offering Envelopes

The 2021 Offering Envelopes are available for pickup in the sanctuary.
