Dear Union Church Family,

I hope and trust that you’ve had a blessed week and are looking forward to the weekend ahead. As you read this, members of the DiscipleSHIP team will be preparing for tonight’s Harvest Celebration. The response has been phenomenal. We have approximately 40 families registered, with approximately 65 kids participating! Families will have their own individual tables outdoors to carve and decorate pumpkins and eat Chick-fil-A. We will have a costume parade, pumpkin lightning and then conclude the night (for those who choose to stay) with an outdoor movie— “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”, of course!

As for this Sunday, we are back in craziest book of the Bible— Revelation. This time we are finally introduced to the King of the Abyss, Abaddon, Apolloyon— in other words, Satan himself! Specifically, we will see how Scripture teaches and admonishes us to resist him and his deadly schemes. The title of the sermon is “Wrestling with The Evil One” and my texts are Revelation 9:1-11, 20-21 and Ephesians 6:10-13.

So what do you say God’s people? Are you READY TO RUMBLE!?!?!

See ya in church,

Billy

A Season of Prayer for our Community and Neighbors

The people of God, over the great span of God’s saving work from Old Testament times up to the present day, have gathered to observe special occasions for focused prayer. Sometimes the seasons of prayer are prescribed by scripture. More often, the people of God respond to the immediate circumstances of time and place. Moved by the Spirit, and the holy, righteous and compassionate heart of Jesus, the people of God act with one voice and spirit to cast their cares upon the God who is gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. To this end, you are invited to join in a Season of Prayer for our Community – local, statewide, national, and international. Wednesdays, 6:00 – 6:45 p.m. in the Sanctuary and Online from September 23rd – October 28th.

Fall Growth Group: The Kingdom of God

What does Jesus mean by the Kingdom of God? If “the good news (or Gospel) of the Kingdom” is in fact the most succinct way to sum up Jesus’ message, we best take the time to understand as well as possible what the Kingdom of God is all about. Over the course of nine weeks, we will take a look at a few different passages that will help fill in our understanding of the Kingdom of God. Join us Wednesday nights from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary and Online from September 23 – November 18.
