Baptism Talks with Eric

We’ve had so many give their lives to Jesus in baptism this past year. Maybe you are wondering, “What is that all about? What is really happening at a baptism? Should I be baptized? If so, when? Why?” Or maybe someone is asking you those questions, and you’d like to give a good answer. This year, Eric will spend one Wednesday night a month talking about baptism with anyone who has questions. The first gathering is this Wednesday night (Jan 29) in the Conference Room @ 6:30. Tell your friend, bring a Bible (or grab one of our free ones!) and come spend some time with Eric.

P.S. HCM and HYG will offer their own baptism classes for children and teens this year. This month’s gathering is focused on adults… but Eric is always glad to chat with young people too. If you know a young person who’s considering baptism, don’t hesitate to reach out to Eric, or HCM/HYG staff.

Chapel Class - "Preparing for the Future" - A study of 2 Thessalonians

This week, Tim Stafford will teach on Chapter 3.

Men's Class - "Written on My Heart" - A study of Psalm 119

When we open our Bibles, we are doing more than simply opening a book. We are answering an invitation to rejoice in the goodness, truth, and beauty of God's Word. Psalm 119, the longest chapter in the Bible, is a song about God's law and the psalmist's desire to obey it. To kick off 2025 we will do a deep dive into Psalm 119 to savor the Word the same way the psalmist talks about. Join us in Room A-104.

Meeting Him in the Quiet Place - Monique Scrip will be leading a 6-week series for women on how to set aside time to meet with God each day, how to be in His word and discern His voice. We will be using her 30-day devotional “Meeting Him in the Quiet Place.” The class will be held on Wednesday nights, January 8th - February 5th. Books can be purchased here! Join us in Room A-105.

Serve With Us

Serving through church gives us a way to belong and meet new people. We’ve got many openings available to fit your gifts and passions, whether it might be serving the Children's Ministry, Youth Ministry, singing on the Praise Team, serving in our Special Needs Ministry, Media Team, and many others.

Generosity is a Journey

At Highland we believe generosity is a journey, and we’re all at different points. Our “generosity path” helps us think about where we are. It’s a 3-step process:

  1. Give something. If you’re not giving, simply start. Make it sacrificial, but don’t get caught up in the amount. Just give cheerfully and with gratitude. You can give online or even by text.
  2. Setup a recurring gift online. It’s quick, safe, and easy. Giving every week or month blesses the church and helps you be more consistent. You can set it up on the church website.
  3. Consider increasing your weekly gift. If you’re giving $20 per week, what would have to change for you to give $25 or even more? If you’re giving $100 per week, what would have to change for you to give $125 or $200 per week?

We serve a generous God, so wherever you are on the path, let’s all strive to keep growing in gratitude and generosity.

4 Convenient Ways to Give

1. Online. Go to www.highlandcc.org/give. You can quickly create an account and make recurring or one-time gifts. ACH is preferred because of the lower fee. Debit and credit cards are accepted, but they charge a 2%-3% fee.
2. Text “Give” to 901-352-3200. This will take you to the website.
3. In Person. You can place cash and checks in one of the offering boxes located in the Chapel and Life Center. This is a great option for your children to give a tangible gift.
4. Mail. You can send checks to the church at 400 North Houston Levee Road, Cordova, TN 38018.
